Jonah said, NO!

Jonah is Rebekah's favorite Bible story right now :) I think because of the whole NO episode :) She always says, "Jonah said, NO" and that is her favorite part of the story :) It is pretty funny.

We always try to remind her of what happened to Jonah after he made such a bad choice and disobeyed God and then what Jonah did later. She always talks about the big fish eating Jonah and how Jonah later said, "OK God, I obey."

It's stuff like this that as a mom I love and value so much. There are so many times when I will just look at my little girl and pray for her for the Lord to give her a heart for Him and a love for Him and His kingdom. I love being a mom! I love our little girl. She is a blessing in our lives. Can't wait for the new addition!

Let my people go!

I have been reading in the book of Exodus and as I was reading over it yesterday I just didn't want to be reading for the sake of reading that story that I have heard and read many times. I wanted to know how it applied to my life and to this day and age. I prayed and asked the Lord to help me apply this to my life. It was neat what the Lord showed me.

He showed me that many times I am like Pharaoh in that I choose to disobey and ignore His Word. I thought of specific things like love your neighbor as yourself, be merciful for I am merciful, be kind to one another, take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, or whatever is pure, noble, excellent, praiseworthy....think of such things. I know what His Word says, but sometimes I, like Pharaoh, choose to ignore it because I want to do my own thing. I don't want to yield to Him so this is where the application came for me.

Some of the words that talked about Pharaoh's response to God were the following: he harden his heart, "he would not listen to them. Instead, he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart" Ex 7:22b-23, his heart was unyielding, ignored the word of the Lord.

I understand that the Lord hardened Pharaohs heart in order to reveal His power, but I believe that Pharaoh's heart was already unyielding toward Him. As the story progresses, Pharaoh's heart became even more hardened toward our Lord and this is what can happen to us as we harden/ignore the Word of the Lord in our lives.

May we walk like Micah where it says,

"He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?"
Micah 6:8

Our TWO year old!

Yes, Rebekah turned two last week! Time has gone by so fast! She has truly been a joy and such a blessing in our lives. She had such a fun time celebrating her b-day with grandma and grandpa and our really close friends.

Rebekah is doing great by the way. She can sing her ABC's, count to 15 in Spanish and English. She knows her colors pretty well and shapes. She loves to be read to and she is understanding so much about the Lord.

These past two weeks were really hard because she got out of her schedule and we think she might have been having bad dreams and woke up afraid. Last week I went in a couple of times to check on her and every time I went in she would say, "pray mama, pray." I would pray for her and lay her down in her crib again and she would go back to sleep in peace. It is neat that she is understanding about prayer and how much Jesus loves her. She loves to smile and she is so active! She also has a very strong personality and is quite the leader.

She is just precious!!!!! Ahhh....we love that little girl so much. Happy birthday, Kita!

We got her this little kitchen for her b-day and she LOVES it. She plays with it all the time. I went ahead and made that tablecloth and napkins and her own towels for the kitchen. She always uses mine, so now she can have her very own. I had fun playing :)
