A Servant's Heart
A couple of nights ago while we were all having dinner I asked Matty the following question:
Me: Matty, you are such a wonderful husband, who made such a huge impact in your life that made you the man that you are today. Was it your dad? a pastor? Who made such an impact in your life? I am just so blown away by the you treat me, REB and others.
Matt humbled by my question and just so sweetly said to me: You know who I think made such an impact in my life, my grandma. She served and served and served others with so much love and care. When we were at her house she would make lasagna for us or things she knew we liked. She always had ice cream for us and just made us feel so special. She gave so much of herself to others that it made a huge impression in my life.
I thought his response was interesting but truly amazing. It is so true that our kids model our lives and not what we tell them. That's why Paul says, "imitate me as I imitate Christ." The same applies to our children. They see our lives and according to what they see being modeled their lives are being shaped.
Thank you Lord for grandma Brodine and for the impact that she had on her grandchildren by living your Truth of loving You with all her heart, mind, soul and strength and loving others as herself. May we continue to follow her example.
